today has been very stressful.

kind of a long story, but basically my aunt's bf is in a lot of pain so my aunt asked me to pick up his prescription and mail it to him in ny. except, mailing narcotics is a federal offense and I don't want to go to prison. so I said, "sorry but no." she said, "oh ok..." today, grandma calls. I am going to NY today. she does obligatory "so nice to be able to see you!" things before going into the whole "so you really need to get his meds and take them with you..." to which I reply, "definitely not." --seeing as no one wants to get arrested by airport security. however, grandma's personality is one where she talks over you constantly. plus, she guilt trips you. so I had to make my point by going shouting into the phone that I would not be doing it. grandma gets angry, yells, and I hang up and immediately send email stating there was no point in going to NY just to be treated like a bad person by the entire family.

my grandma, being incredibly naturally gossipy, forwards the email to the entire family so everyone is involved. am now juggling several people pressuring me into doing it with me going, "no." spent day feeling upset and angry while questioning my decision to not go and always deciding it was right. then andrew, who had been incredibly supportive the entire day, breaks down and tells me that he is in fact quite disappointed and was looking forward to going to NY quite a bit. I decide it's unfair for me to take that away from him; consequently, it's three hours before the flight and I am packing. but I digress, the point of the entry was in fact something much more important!

Look, it's Artea!

They actually gave Dekar pink hair AHAHAHAH

seriously though, arty's character design is hot.

lufia has always been srs biz to me~

I really hate the Lufia fandom sometimes. Or I guess more specifically, just the kind I encounter on gamefaqs (which is the only place I can finddddd). For something I'm vastly excited about, I'm tired of all the minuscule flaws people are finding and/or making up for the game for the sake of "But it's Square!" Nevermind Square has shit to do with the game besides money and marketing--they now have everything to do with it and are the reason for everything wrong with it!

That's pretty old at this point though, so whatever. what is recently pissing me off is the slew of comments raging at Maxim's new design for being too different-- he smiles! he has a leather jacket! leather jacket! how dare they rape my beloved character with a filthy piece of dead cow! he's so metrosexual now!

Then Tia's new design comes along (here if you want to see) and the general consensus is "Red hair?! Goggles?! Chainsaw?! ......She's now the perfect waifu! I love it!"

My opinion on Tia's design aside (my opinion anyway: awesome; it's cute and I always hated the original tia for being an insipid bitch anyway) I'm angry at the reactions. Maxim gets a leather-god-damn-jacket and hundreds of fanboys hold up their mighty nerd hand to lay down the law against the man for daring to change what was in fact the perfect hero. Tia comes up and is now so completely different from her old character that she isn't even recognizable, and they approve. why? because her cuteness and sex appeal skyrocketed. I wouldn't even bring up sex appeal, but taking in mind the community of gamefaqs (where they're proud to be lolicons) the fact they gave tia a younger (literally younger--she's officially jailbait now) and cuter personality probably correlates directly to sexual appeal.

Anyway, for a community who has been bitching about the traditionalism of Lufia nonstop (leather jacket! leather jacket! bawwww!) to graciously approve the redesign of the ladies (because no one has said anything bad about Selan's new look either) is shallow and asinine. what is the message here? Don't change anything about my beloved Lufia unless you make the women hotter? yeah, go fuck yourselves.

I don't even find these reactions surprising, although I had hoped for better from the lufia community. it's just that for people who adamantly despise square-enix, they do a good job of acting like every other square-enix game community there is-- where nothing REALLY matters except how hot they've made the women.

It was cute and likeable but not definitely not Miyazaki's best. Like... it was so simple, but he introduced so many things that he never developed that it felt sloppy. Plus I felt he grabbing some inspiration from Howl's Moving Castle. Wizard dude was totally cute.

After that, snuck into that new Quentin Tarantino movie. Typically I find it hard to get into a movie if you crash it halfway through, but this one was pretty easy. I think most Tarantino movies are like that. It was good but like........YOU try going from cutesy Miyazaki movie about goldfish girl x 5 year old boy romance tale and immediately following up with Nazi Germany and Hitler death plots. I walked out feeling oddly accomplished and confused. Good job, me.

Andddd I PIRATED PAINTER XI :D number of people who care: 0

It's because you're all pussies who like Photoshop best 8D You damn heathens :D

That's really it.
So, yesterday I had a serious craving for sugar and candy. It probably didn't help that Mom just bought choco mint chip & brownie ice cream and a fuckton of saltwater taffy.

Naturally, I gorged myself on it. It was appropriately <3.

Next day, I'm eyeing the leftovers and I think: Do I want more?

Then a horrifying realization hit me.

I didn't.

For the first time in my life, I had no desire to eat any sweets whatsoever. What-so-fucking-ever. I had gorged myself so thoroughly that the thought of more delicious chocolate just made me go, "Eh. Maybe some other time."

And that is when I realized the sad truth: I AM BECOMING AN ADULT.

Sometimes I even experience things such as the dreaded sugar-induced headache. wtf! I never got those when I was younger, no matter how much I ate! Where is my tolerance for sickening sweet foods going!

Come back, kid inside me! Don't go! I'm not ready for this life of adult taste buds just yet!

........ ;A;
UGH WRITING TEACHER

I like that he's critical, I really do (usually at least), but I'm sensing what may be a DOUBLE STANDARD in the works here.

On first paper, his major criticisms:

"You lack organization and focus! You deviate too much! STAY ON TOPIC THIS ENTIRE PARAGRAPH IS IRREVALANT RAAAHAKHKSHNM I give you a B!"

me: ;A;
So on second paper (which is a WIP right now-- half my paper so far consists of notes for my team in pokemon pearl (gardevoir or misdreavus? hmmm)), his thoughts on my topic (which is debating the legality of bittorrent when <strike>the RIAA</strike> US copyright laws are taken into account) (PS the answer is yes of course but shh I have to appear fair and balanced in the paper and not act like <strike>the RIAA</strike> certain companies are whiny pussies out to ruin everyone's fun)

ANYWAY so the comments he gave for my arguments were, "HOW DOES NAPSTER PLAY INTO THIS" (who gives a fuck about napster anymore that is so 1999 and ps you're the one who said "peer-2-peer programs is too vague a topic, you need to narrow it down" which is why I SPECIFICALLY MADE MY PAPER ABOUT BITTORRENT) and he goes on to say, (this is a direct quote) "Finally, one argument may be that right now is just not the right time because there are bigger fish to fry."

bitch if I tried either of those, you would immediately slap me down and dock me 40 points for NOT FOCUSING ENOUGH

not only that, but the latter's "argument" could be used in ANYONE'S PAPER yet I didn't see him mentioning that to the chick who is writing on whether or not fluoride should be added to our drinking water or the salmon regulation woman.

\o/ god writing teachers, why can't they be consistently anal like a normal person

for those curious, here are my notes for gardevoir vs. misdreavus in my paper:

gardevoir:

pros:
- overall great stats, especially specials
- psychic, which owns a lot of shit
- not bad looking
- the pokedex description for it is cute

cons:
- everyone loves gardevoir
- I mean really loves gardevoir; I'm sick of the fucking porno out there (thank you, 4chan)
- misdreavus looks cooler

misdreavus:

pros:
- overall good stats
- purple, which is <3
- ghost, which is probably useful. no normal attacks work on it.
- but even if it isn't, it can learn psychic anyway so who cares

cons:
- ghost, which probably sucks more than is useful
- gardevoir has better stats

Thoughts? Should I take Gardevoir even though every time I look at it I will remember 4chan fanboys fapping away at Kirlia? Or Misdreavus, which looks cool but kinda sucks in comparison?

my life is so banal
Today's observation:

Burgundy Frost looks like shit on short nails. Either that, or there are some colors that really are made for toes only. I feel I should paint my toes and find out but matching hands and feet is just gauche.

Choosing the right shade of nail polish is too damn hard sometimes. :( This is why I should stick with clear.

Other news: I was driving home and there was a mini tornado (is there a particular word for that? it was almost as big as a mid-sized tree) on the side of the highway. My initial reaction was: "Cool. I want to jump into it and see what it's like." Of course, I just drove past it because I was on the fucking highway bawwww

now I'll spend the rest of my life wondering "what if" ;_;

Update on road trip! And this time, I shall update using proper grammar and punctuation for a change. \o/

So NOT ONLY DID I NOT GET LOST although there were a couple times where I thought, "Okay I HAVE to be going in the wrong direction now." But I even managed to find my way back with NO MAPQUEST AT ALL. Amazing! Reading signs really does work!

And although I will never admit this to my actual family (I have worked too long on my "I hate traveling I hate car trips I hate planes no I don't want to go anywhere ever" reputation) the drive was really pleasant. It's kinda cathartic to drive by myself on a freeway for a few hours with all the windows down and the radio blaring on a sunny day with good traffic. Especially since half the drive is really pretty with a bunch of mossy trees and rivers and lakes and stuff. AND A TUNNEL who doesn't like going through tunnels because I think we can all agree that tunnels are pretty damn cool am I right.

Also, I realized that Portland drivers are a bunch of pussies. When I can easily pass half of traffic by going at the speed limit instead of over the speed limit then you know something is up.

But I guess I'm not much better because I'm the only person I know who needs to put on SPF 50 sunblock for driving ahhhhhjkdhhkj and I think part of my neck still got sunburned. :[

PS I like how there's finally a lot of attention being paid to the environment as of late. There's a lot of commercials and such encouraging people to go green and energy conservation. I just wish it hadn't taken the environment to be on the verge of collapse for it to happen in the first place.
I like words, they're much more memorable than "TURN SLIGHT RIGHT ONTO NF-9768"

did I ever tell my flist the story about how I got lost for 45 minutes finding a grocery store in new york city that was across the street from me the entire time? no? well, that's how bad my sense of direction is. my family still finds that story highly entertaining.

whyyy god whyyy did I get such worthless talents such as english and art when science and geography is so much more useful

it doesn't help that this road trip is really just an eight hour car ride to Portland so I can take a damn math test (which is just another useful talent I never got bawww).

bawwww

bawwwww

okay, I'm done whining. now I just need to pray I can actually zig zag my way into portland tomorrow.

\o/ LET'S DO IT!!!!!

The expression "Bowl O'Meal" derives from my ancestors the 11th Lord Lovat who strengthened the clan by exchanging oatmeal on the condition that men adopt the name Fraser and fight for the clan.

OH WAIT
Risoun (10:26:07 PM): I COULD'VE JUST READ THE ENTIRE THING
Risoun (10:26:09 PM): AND FOUND OUT
Risoun (10:26:16 PM): omg
Risoun (10:26:17 PM): yes
Risoun (10:26:18 PM): I can be
Risoun (10:26:23 PM): I can be a bowl o'meal fraser
Risoun (10:26:29 PM): /loling hard all over again
Risoun (10:26:43 PM): and I KNEW it was fucking oatmeal

LATER

Risoun (10:31:26 PM):
Legend has it that the infamous 11th Lord Lovat brewed a whisky so potent that it gave his clansmen’s extra strength and courage before charging the English in the first wave at the Battle of Culloden, 1745. Each Lord Lovat since has relied on a private reserve to bring strength in times of need.

your
Risoun (10:31:30 PM): omg
SparkleGlowstick (10:31:35 PM): AHAHA
Risoun (10:31:36 PM): your clan made magical booze
SparkleGlowstick (10:31:43 PM): god my fam are such alkies
SparkleGlowstick (10:31:47 PM): this is why I don't drink
Risoun (10:31:49 PM): I'm so fucking jealous

LATER

Risoun (10:35:18 PM):
Our gathering will be a very Highland event with a shinty match against Clan Macrae, followed by an
open ceilidh, an enormous hog roast for dinner, and enough whisky to keep you going till the morning.

XD oh my god
SparkleGlowstick (10:35:19 PM): do you see that man
SparkleGlowstick (10:35:22 PM): that is a MAN
SparkleGlowstick (10:35:27 PM): koumi
SparkleGlowstick (10:35:28 PM): I think
Risoun (10:35:30 PM): MEAT, BOOZE, AND BATTLE WITH OTHER CLANS
SparkleGlowstick (10:35:40 PM): THIS IS WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF

LATER

Risoun (10:36:24 PM):
The Lovat chiefs never made the mistake of acquiring their lands as conquerors.
So mom got back from the hospital today. I wish she would stop treating my driving like it's a god damn personal death sentence. C'mon mom, I think FLINCHING AND SHIELDING YOURSELF WITH YOUR ARMS every time I break at a stoplight is just a teeny tiny bit overreacting. ffs, I am more cautious and paranoid than most drivers my age.

As you can guess, she is doing fine. >O

In other news, on the way home we had the following conversation:

me: You know I'll be 21 in August, right.
mom: Yes.
me: That means I can buy alcohol legally.
mom: Yeah.
me: I don't feel I've done nearly as much underaged drinking as I should have. My youth is going to waste.
mom: What, you want me to buy you whiskey as a present?
me: Yeah! Or rum, vodka... hard liquor in general, really. Nothing lame like wine coolers.

*pause*

me: But seriously. You'll buy me some booze the next time you go into town, right?
mom: I just said I would.
me: :D!

I know having your own parent endorsing your plea to get drunk defeats the idea of "underaged drinking" but fuck me, I'll take it anyway.

Not often, but once every two years or so.

It's so awkward. I'm gonna be 40 years old and I'll be all "OHSHIT" to my kids. "I GOTTA PLAY POKEMON RED RIGHT NOW." And by that time they'll be on Pokemon Eggshell White and Duchess Purple, and I'll just get weird looks from them, like "who the fuck plays RED" and then I'll reply with "shut up brats, everyone knows charizard was the best starter ever" and then they'll roll their eyes and I'll have to threaten to ground them on the basis of treachery and that will be that.

but when they're cute and tiny I'll entertain them on fairy tales of the elusive Missingno and what it was like to play roms back when emulators had no save states and how people pirated things when there was no bittorrent or google.

...
